Advantages of vortex pump

The characteristics of small volume and light weight of the vortex pump have great superiority in the ship installation. It has the ability of self absorption or self suction by means of simple device. It has a steep head characteristic curve and is therefore insensitive to pressure fluctuations in the system. Some vortex pumps can realize steam liquid mixing transportation. It is of great significance for pumping volatile liquids containing gases and high-temperature liquids with high vaporization pressure. The structure of the scroll pump is simple, casting and processing technology are easy to achieve, some parts of the scroll pump can also use non-metallic materials, such as plastic, nylon molded impeller and so on.

Disadvantages of vortex pump

1. Low efficiency, up to 55%, most of the efficiency of the vortex pump in 20-40%, thus hindering its development to high-power direction.

2. the cavitation performance of the vortex pump is poor.

3. vortex pump can not be used for pumping viscous medium. As the viscosity of the liquid increases, the head and efficiency of the pump will be drastically reduced (Pump Housekeeper), the viscosity of the medium is limited to 114%.

4. The stricter requirement of radial clearance and axial clearance between impeller and pump body of vortex pump brings some difficulties to machining and assembling process.

The 5. medium is only pure liquid. When there are solid particles in the liquid, the axial and radial clearance will increase due to wear and tear, which will reduce the performance of the pump or cause the vortex pump can not work.
